Your kitchen should be designed according to how you plan to use it. A designer or contractor can install a new kitchen but if it’s not custom built to the way you will use it, you will not enjoy your kitchen.
The working triangle is something that is often overlooked, but is still very important. The refrigerator, stove and sink are the three components of the working triangle. The triangle is very helpful if you want an efficient kitchen. Consider where you will prep your food. Do you want to walk all the way across your kitchen to get a big pot of water, only to have to walk back to put it on the stove?
Do you love to bake? Ask your designer to incorporate a baking center in your kitchen. Equip it with wall ovens and cabinets with tray dividers for your baking pans and cookie sheets. If you have a stand mixer add a cabinet that will lift up the mixer to you. You won’t have to worry about bending over to pickup the heavy mixer.
If you are a wine aficionado, design your kitchen with a swanky wine area. Consider a wine rack that will not only hold, but will also display your wine bottles and beautiful wine glasses. There is no need to keep wine glasses concealed behind a cabinet.
Make a list of the things that are important to you and your family. Whether it’s baking, buying in bulk, entertaining or cooking, make sure your kitchen designer incorporates the things that you want in your home. A kitchen should not only be beautiful, it should be functional as well.
