Space for All
This home in McAllen, Texas, built in 1967, was in need of a modern upgrade. The low ceiling, cramped space and lack of a pantry made this out-of-date kitchen in need of some major remodeling. To whip the kitchen into shape, the homeowners called upon Mary King of Signature Kitchens and Baths of McAllen.
The family does not entertainment much, but they needed a design that allowed them to function comfortably and prepare delicious home-cooked meals. A large island serves as a beautiful focal point in the area, and also provides a place for the family to gather. It was important for the design team to create not only an accommodating area for the cook, but a relaxing area for the entire family. Now, Mom cooks while the kids sit comfortably doing homework and Dad finishes up his office work, all enjoying the newly remodeled space.
A pass-through from the kitchen to the dining room is highlighted by beautiful cabinets with glass door insets, accessible from both sides. The cabinetry also features glass shelving, which lets the light shine through and reflect off the colored glassware.
